David
Barker
Most
of the bikes at mollory where Rat racers, Come on lads lets be fare the last
time your bikes had a clean maggy was in power. with 1 exception this one.
Dave striped the bike over the winter and resprayed the frame engine pipes
everything, cleaned down the alloy bead blasted the barrels and fitted TZ
alloy head bolts ,he also sonic cleaned the carbs and it shows . He says the
tank and back piece reflects how the entire bike used to look before he cleaned
it all down. It just needs a spray and it would be spot on.
Dave
is from Dronfield in Derbyshire, Mallory and darly both being his local tracks.
Dave races at all Early stocks meetings and races for points. He used to race
RGV250 but gave them up last year for LC racing. Don't let the fact that he
has his pants on over his leathers fool you he is a perfectly normal and friendly
bloke, he just thinks the superman look gives him luck in a race.
This
is Dave in the middle doing what he came for having a bloody good race. All
the 3 at the back are LC's and just about to kick ass on a novis big 4 stroke
racer.
The
bike runs DTR pistons as they all do they are a stronger piston then standard
LC ones and they offer a few extra cc. Everything had been replaced as the old
crank was well and truly mullered. The bike runs Avon AM22 110 rear and Dunlop
KR825 front .
He has fitted an extra long shock to put the Wight to the front this gives better
feel and feed in cornering but can make them more unstable along the straight.
It has a RS125 seat unit fitted. Dave is running a 16/40 sprocket set up and
a 520 pitch chain set up this gives less drag then the 530 standard LC set up.
It has a Scitsu takho and Temp guage.
Dave
has blocked of the balance pipe with alloy bungs a strange mod for a race bike.
He
sent the pipes to taymar racing to me moded but he says he would not recommend
them. It took 4 months and many phone calls to get them done and when he got
them back they did not fit correct and it was blowing from a couple of weld
points so he had to get it fixed local. Dave is running an air box but only
as a stone guard it is not connected to the carbs at the back.
